On June 3, NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) announced at the NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Networks) Industry Conference that the company completed the full integration of TD-LTE (Time Division-Long Term Evolution) with its existing mobile platforms including base stations and core networks, the Sohu IT News reported on June 4. In addition, leveraging NSN's Flexi Multiradio base station, the company also conducted the demonstration on the industry's first dual-mode TD-SCDMA (TD-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access)/TD-LTE demo network. This achievement marked a significant progress for NSN towards helping telecom operators smoothly migrate their existing TD-SCDMA networks to TD-LTE, according to the same source.

 

Meanwhile, NSN's TD-LTE Open Lab in Hangzhou currently has a total of 1,600 LTE engineers, planning to add 500 more by the end of 2010, the chinabyte.com reported on June 4. The TD-LTE Open Lab was inaugurated in April 2010 at the same premises where NSN's Hangzhou TD-LTE R&D Center was originally located, serving as a common platform to provide the interoperability tests for major TD-LTE vendors before commercial rollout of TD-LTE.
